Coach awarded giant cookie after bragging about amazing undefeated season in 'coach pitch'
Springfield, MO—An amazing season almost went completely unnoticed this past week. That is, until Bob Zimmer, head coach of the coach-pitch Phillies of the Springfield Little League, tweeted out a humble brag about his team’s undefeated season. The league has decided to award coach Zimmer a giant cookie of his choice for his outstanding accomplishment.
Zimmer’s tweet about his team’s achievement read, “I’m just so proud of my boys for an undefeated season! They couldn’t have done it without me!”
The tweet went largely unnoticed since Zimmer only has 15 followers, but after a few hours the Springfield LL board caught wind and was compelled to take action.
“Coach Zimmer texted me, telling me to follow him and then look at his latest tweet,” explained one board member, “At that point I felt embarrassed for allowing such a historic event go without proper attention. Clearly his leadership deserved some type of recognition.”
“I am just so proud of my boys. I really couldn’t have done it without them,” commented Zimmer, who held mandatory practices four days a week and hired a private trainer for his team. “They were locked in all year. All year, fastballs that I grooved down the middle were pounded over the second shortstop’s head and past the left-center fielder. I’m proud to say I had the highest ERA in the league.”
Coach Zimmer is in his 10th year as coach-pitch head coach and this is his 7th undefeated season. He doesn’t plan on moving up to live pitch anytime soon.
“I think this is where I belong. I just enjoy having complete control of the game as the pitcher. It’s always been my dream to pitch, so why would I give that up?”
The league board plans to take Coach Zimmer to the local Mrs. Fields this weekend, where he will get to pick out any cookie he desires.
